Test Scores

Community colleges may require that you submit your test scores from English proficiency exams such as TOEFL (Test of English as a Foreign Language) or IELTS (International English Language Testing System). To learn when and where those tests are administered, visit www.EducationUSA.state.gov, or contact your local EducationUSA advising center.
Whether or not you take the TOEFL or IELTS, most community  colleges will require that you take an English placement test that the college itself administers after you arrive on campus and before you register for classes. If you have adequate skills, you will be allowed to begin an academic program immediately. If your skill levels are below English proficiency requirements, you will be required to complete an Intensive English Program (IEP) before taking academic courses.
